Rather than a large theatre production, Café Ziryab offers the opportunity to experience live flamenco from just a few metres away: the sound of the guitar, the intensity of the singing and every detail of the dance.

One of the most exciting things about seeing flamenco live in Madrid is that no two performances are exactly the same.

Throughout October, Sarini Nieto and Maximiliano Rebman provide a recurring thread through the dance programme, joined by guest performers including Miguel Valles and Blanca Trillo.

The singing programme also brings together very different voices and generations. October features artists including Pablo Moreno, Rubén Quirós, Alejandro Villaescusa, Eva Durán and Israel Paz.

A particularly special name in the October programme is Diego Amador, a singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist whose musical language connects flamenco tradition with a broader contemporary musical vocabulary.

The guitar programme is equally varied, with musicians such as Daniel Yagüe, Nicola Malatesta, Paco Cruz, Andrés Heredia and José Sisón.

This changing combination of cante, baile and guitarra means the show is never simply reproduced night after night. Flamenco is built around communication between the artists, leaving room for spontaneity, interpretation and improvisation.

An Intimate Tablao Flamenco in Madrid

Café Ziryab is designed for experiencing flamenco close to the stage.

Its intimate format allows audiences to notice details that can easily disappear in a larger venue: the exchange between guitarist and dancer, the silence before the singer begins, or the rhythm created spontaneously between the performers.

A regular performance lasts approximately 60 minutes, and admission includes one drink. Guests can also order additional drinks and a selection of tapas during their visit.
