About Pedro Obregón

Pedro Jesús Obregón Uceda, flamenco singer.
Cantaor payo, better known by the artistic name Pedro Obregón, was born in Fernán Núñez (Córdoba), on November 27, 1975.
He began singing at the amateur gatherings of the Peña Flamenca “El Mirabrás” to which he belongs and where he gave his first recitals.
For several years he has been requested as a singer to accompany the dance by different dancers from Córdoba, which he combines with his performances singing "adelante", a facet to which he has dedicated himself preferentially and almost exclusively since 1997.
He has won the following awards: First Prize in the Fernán Núñez Local Competition (Córdoba), 1993. First Prize in the First Edition of the Young Flamenco Performers Competition of the Provincial Council of Córdoba, 1997. First Prize in the Competition of the Peña Flamenca “Merengue de Córdoba”, in Córdoba, 1998. First Prize in Cantes de Málaga and Granada in the Calasparra National Competition (Murcia), 1999. Prize for Best Young Singer in the Montalbán Competition (Córdoba), 2000. Second Prize in the Ubrique Competition (Cádiz), 2000. Second Prize Camarón de la Isla Memorial in San Fernando (Cádiz), 2000.
The critic Agustín Gómez wrote of him: "Pedro Obregón has a medium-sized voice that is secure and balanced, full of nuances. He masters it perfectly in his performance, with a keen ear and personal taste; but the best thing about him is that he traces his melodic arc and technical game with admirable ease and security, without repeating a single appoggiatura or embellishment note; he perfectly links the beat and is ambitious in his learning with great self-awareness."
